Boy's Paint

I always liked the idea of editorials working with both painting and photography.
What I pretty much like – no, let’s say love - about this fashion story is its subtle approach to fashion.
These boys are not just models wearing clothes. They are part of 17 beautiful paintings revealing how delicately fashion and art can go together.

You have a look at the pictures, study their colours, the arrangement of clothes, study what these boys wear and why. You may think of Manet, may think of Diego Velazquez, whatever – in the end you will end up remembering your on youth years ago.
And, how effortless you might have worn Comme des Garcons those days – if you could have afforded it.

German artist Christian Schoeler (based in Düsseldorf) did the artwork for this sensual editorial and worked closely together with Another Man’s Alister Mackie. See more of Christian’s paintings here.

Not sad at all...

...but "Sad Song" goes always.
Not the newest song, but effortless jazz never gets out of style.
Don't know why, but despite it's title this song reminds me of summertime...
Spring is just about to knock on your door...

And just in case you'd like to go: Room Eleven will be playing in London (Trafalgar Square, April 18th), Bourges (France, April 20th) and Amstelveen (Netherlands, May 2nd).

Tickets for Amstelveen still available here.

Chronicle... #1

image via fashionspot

That look just stands for what I really like in men's fashion; a young, handsome man who is quite sure of his presence, a simple stance, a beautiful daylight picture, an amazing tailored dinner-jacket with his own vintage sweatshirt and tight jeans
Olivier Rizzo, Stylist

Found this 1999's masterpiece of style while surfing the web.
Raf Simons dinner jacket, vintage hoodie and an almost gothic, weird Mickey-Mouse-face. Gorgeous!

Wonderful illustrations of Stockholm-based illustrator Moa Edlund.
Never seen naughty topics so naively interpreted...

Kleidergedanken

images via Temporaryshowroom

Sexual Politics

images via Justine Lai

Sex and Crime is something we all know about. Sex and Politics still is a matter-of-fact nobody speaks about. Painter Justine Lai neither does. She just paints it. In her playful but not pornographic paintings she shows herself in - let's say intimate interaction with America's presidents: Lincoln, Wilson, Roosevelt and Reagan; in her paintings, she has them all - in chronological order.
She describes her intention as follows:

The presidency itself is a seemingly immortal and impenetrable institution; by inserting myself in its timeline, I attempt to locate something intimate and mortal. I use this intimacy to subvert authority, but it demands that I make myself vulnerable along with the Presidents.
